About Pro Silva France

Pro Silva France, a network for foresters

Pro Silva France is an association of foresters (owners, managers, professionals and forest-enthusiasts) sharing an interest and supporting the development of Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF). This management method combines both economy and ecology, respecting the natural processes of forest ecosystems. Hence the name “Sylviculture mélangée à couvert continu” (SMCC) in French, or “close-to-nature forestry” in English.

Pro Silva France's main activities cover providing training in CCF for forest professionnals or forest owners, public engagement and promotion of CCF. The association comprises 14 regional groups spread over France, giving foresters and forest-enthusiasts the opportunity to meet in the forest and discuss CCF practices.

More about us:

Our association brings together about 450 members, including a large number of active field practitioners (specialized managers and/or owners). The number of members is constantly increasing.

Our 14 regional groups are lead by one or two volunteer facilitators, sometimes assisted by a President. These facilitators are responsible for organizing regular forest tours.
